We work at the Jumbo Tech Campus, the part of Jumbo that takes care of its software engineering. Our company grows 10-20 percent each year and our online business grows with 40-50 percent per year. This makes that we’ve learned and are still learning to innovate fast to support this growth. We like to tell you a story on how we approach this, how we fail sometimes, find smart solutions and become stronger. We’ve implemented Agile/Scrum, CI/CD and we’re growing into a DevOps organization and we’ll tell you how we support this with technology. Our goal is to be practical and helpful for others to learn.
Anneke Keller works at Jumbo, a successful and fast-growing supermarket chain. Within Jumbo, she’s responsible for the Jumbo Tech Campus, which is the department that develops all software for Jumbo. As the market and the company are growing fast, her 350 people strong team is transforming and growing fast as well. Besides that, the goal to become the best omnichannel food retailer requires Jumbo to innovate fast. Next to her day-time job, she’s also a part-time management coach. At Jumbo, but also in her former jobs at Coolblue, KPN and Tomtom, she’s learned a lot about changing and scaling organizations, about both server-side and embedded software, quality assurance, DevOps, distributed teams and (cloud) infrastructure. In 2016, 2017 and in 2019, she was named one of the 50 Most Inspiring Women in Tech in the Netherlands. She loves to share her knowledge, to help and to learn.
Yassine Elouazzani started his career by founding his own hosting company. This wasn’t a huge success, so he decided to get some proper education in IT. After several years, he discovered software development and since that time, he’s in love with the web. He’s been working on web applications for the last 8 years mainly as a front-end developer. He’s been working at Jumbo for 2 years, during which a lot of improvements and optimizations in multiple areas have been made to make Jumbo.com better, faster and stronger. As a person, he likes nerdy talks, especially on architecture solutions and domotica hacks.
