In less then eight years, Spotify went from 0 to 140 million users. This didn’t only require us to build a large platform, but also to create an engineering organization and culture that scales. In this talk we’ll look at how Spotify’s engineering organization grew over the years and our learnings along the way.
Wouter de Bie is director of engineering for data at Spotify. After studying computer science he started as a freelance developer. Since 2011 he’s working at Spotify, first in Stockholm and now in New York. During his time at Spotify he has been in management and architecture roles in which he has been involved in building Spotify’s data infrastructure as well as building high-performing teams.
